Web Push Notifications in Mega Community
Notifications are sent for the following events:
- New posts - all community members are notified when a post is published. If the post requires approval, administrators and moderators are notified first. Other members receive a notification after the post is approved.
- New comments and replies - the owner of the post or comment is notified when another customer comments or replies. If approval is required, administrators and moderators are notified first, and the owner is notified after approval.
- New likes - the owner is notified when another customer likes their post, comment, or reply. These notifications are sent immediately and do not depend on approval settings.
Notifications usually arrive within a few seconds after the action is completed.
Allowing notifications
When a member opens the Community, they will see a yellow banner at the top inviting them to enable push notifications. After they click Enable, their browser will ask for permission to send notifications. They can choose Allow, Block, or close the browser request.

- Allow: Web push notifications are enabled, and the member will receive them.

- Close the browser request: The banner stays the same, and its button remains Enable. Clicking Enable again will show the browser’s permission request again.
- Block: The member will not receive notifications. The banner message and button will change, and the button will say How to Enable. Clicking it takes the member to a Help Desk article explaining how to enable notifications after blocking them - How to enable previously blocked Web Push Notifications

When a member blocks notifications, the permission is saved in their browser. A website cannot show the permission request again. The member must change the notification permission in their browser’s site settings. The How to Enable button links to instructions for doing this - How to enable previously blocked Web Push Notifications
Notifications on mobile devices
Web push notifications work in the same way on mobile browsers. When a logged-in customer visits the community, and pressing Enable button the browser asks whether they want to allow or block notifications.

Important notes
- Web push notifications are not available in private or incognito browsing mode.
- If a customer uses multiple devices or browsers, Mega Community sends notifications only to the device and browser they used most recently to access the app. This helps prevent duplicate notifications.
- The feature has been tested in current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS.
