# Prerequisite courses

**Prerequisite courses** are mandatory courses that learners must complete (if there is a [quiz](https://help.courses-plus.com/en/article/quizzes-2pltqb/) – quizzes must be completed with a passing grade) before advancing to more complex courses. They ensure that students have the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in subsequent courses, creating a logical and effective learning path. By following a sequence of prerequisites, learners build understanding step by step, reducing gaps in knowledge and improving overall outcomes.

Here is an example:

To build this, let's visit Courses Plus course details and go to **General settings** tab. Scroll down to the **Prerequisite course** section:

This way you can ensure that students are prepared to this course by completing all necessary courses before this one.
